Wayne Public Library and The Jazz Series
The Wayne Public Library has always striven to expand the definition of what a library is and how it best serves its community. Director Ricardo Pino came to the Wayne Public Library in March 2020 (as the pandemic began) and encouraged staff to create programs to connect with patrons, even during a challenging time.
When the Library was ready to offer in-person programs in 2022, the WPL Jazz Concert Series was developed in conjunction with a virtual jazz interview series by Reference Librarian Patty Slezak. Free live concerts are presented each year at the Library featuring talented musicians who perform in New York City’s and New Jersey’s well-known jazz venues.
In December 2022, the Library began its collaboration with Our Lady of Consolation Church presenting a holiday concert and a partnership was developed.
“The Wayne Public Library appreciates Our Lady of Consolation Church for being one of our partners in providing great programming to the Wayne community. Part of our mission has always been to not only expand the horizons of our users, but where and how we can do that. Partnering with OLC helps accomplish that.”
~ Ricardo Pino, Director, Wayne Public Library
In addition to the aforementioned concerts, the Wayne Public Library offers myriad programs for all ages throughout the year. Patrons enjoy our physical and digital resources, and other services such as wireless printing, study rooms and museum passes. Library cards are free for Wayne residents.
